This bar / kitchen was originally a large void under the previous home owners split level house. Over the years, flooring was laid, walls were constructed around the foundations and a kitchen was installed giving the owners home a second kitchen near their outdoor entertainment area.
Great idea, however, it was not a very welcoming sight. Nor was the original construction very sound. Definately a dark and dingy room in need of a facelift.
Jim, the home owner, briefed Eric with what he wanted, "...a retreat, somewhere to go after a long days work and enjoy a beer..".
The planning had started out with a bar in mind and from there everything just came together. The only problem to overcome was the footings for the house above. Eric's clever designing concealed the foundations behind cuboards leaving no eyesore's. The bold colour scheme of the brushed yellow cupboards and the Nova Galileo Caesarstone used really gives this room that bar feel. The mushroom tiles cool the room down creating a sheek look.
After completing major construction work, electrical, plumbing, cabinetry & tiling, we fitted the essential items for every great bar, a digital plasma TV and a Wurlitzer Jukebox. Every home should have a room like this... |
